New LBG

LOVE IT!

Free art project.

I love visiting this website to find the free down loadable art. You save them as a PDF, print them, then frame them with cute matching colored frames. I don't have the best printer, so I have not started framing quite yet. Ugh. Check it out.

Mini Pies.

I found these on foodgawker and thought it was such a nifty little idea. Some things on that website I look at and go, "Why didn't I think of that?" This was my first stab at it. I just used pre-made items because it is less costly. I love them though especially in my box with the pretty green paper.

The Doc is in.

This is a picture of Dr. Pepper cake. I think it is a spin on the classic Coke cake like my grandmother used to make. It looks heavenly, but then again everything chocolate is good for me. To get the recipe please visit: www.shewearsmanyhats.com!

Make Life Pretty

Encountering some hard times has made me realize a few things about myself personally. Since I am constantly faced with the phrase "in this economic climate" and "health care reform" and "budget cuts are preventing us from hiring right now", I have found solace in my artistic side. This blog has been one of the many outcomes of self discovery. I thought this particular picture portrayed exactly what I feel at this moment. Life can be ugly, but let's make life pretty however we can. I got this picture from one of my favorite blogs-Piewacket.

Papaya! Has done it again.

I saw this at the NYC gift show and I wanted to buy it so badly. I think it is beyond hilarious! Plus I throw around that derogatory word to my pals a little often than I should. I think this can make you giggle for many reasons. Enjoy!

Marlow's Tavern

I know many of you probably already know about Marlow's Tavern here in Atlanta. There are multiple locations. I was introduced to Marlow's many years ago when I visited the restaurant in Vinings. I used to go there for live music and enjoy this amazing dish- hummus. I have been obsessed with it since day one. I do believe it is one of my favorite dishes. Maybe I should go on Food Network to that show "The Best Thing I Ever Ate". I think this qualifies. The pita comes out warm and so soft. The hummus has a perfect texture but just a fair warning..it is heavy with garlic so don't eat it on date night.

Lindsey Hinkle

This is a photograph of my long time friend Lindsey Hinkle. She is a musician, and a darn good one I might add. Although I do not follow Lindsey to all her shows, I check in on her stuff from time to time. I have always been amazed by her talent. She will be here in Atlanta playing at Smith's Olde bar March 20. Please come out and check her out!!

Commonsense conservative.

I found that the end of the Palin book was maybe better than the beginning that got me hooked. I found several passages, one that Victor shared on his Facebook page.
" I am a conservative because I deal with the world as it is- complicated and beautiful, tragic and hopeful. I am a conservative because I believe in the rights and the responsibilities and the inherent dignity of the individual."

" Commonsense conservatives deal w human nature as it is- with its unavoidable weaknesses and its potential for goodness. We see the world as it is- imperfect but filled w beauty. We hope for the best. We believe that people can change for the better, but we do not ignore history's lessons and waste time chasing Utopian dreams. We don't trust Utopian dreams from politicians."

While reading this particular section I noticed that she thinks like a mother and like a woman, but she is not naive. She closed her book with an incredible email that has been widely circulated.

In the email Dewey Whetsell describes the achievements of SP while in Alaska and how tenacious she was when it came to what she believed. He lists these achievements..asking as he goes if anyone else has accomplished such goals. His final paragraph discusses how she was dogged with ethics complaints after the election. This led to her ultimate resignation..to protect her family and those staff members who had stood beside her during the campaign. This is his final paragraph..

" By the way, she was content to return to Alaska after the national election and go to work but the haters would not let her. Now, these adolescent screechers are obviously not scuba divers. And no one ever told them what happens when you continually jab and pester a barracuda. Without warning, it will spin around and tear your face off. Shoulda known better."
