Outdoor Kitchen Dream

Oh I dream a dream, of an outdoor kitchen. Actually I am still hoping for some new dining room chairs, but I guess I can have big and small dreams. I really enjoy entertaining and at the present time, Vic and I do not have enough space to put on the kind of gatherings that I would like to have. I guess this fits into that category, like everything else that you can't afford, "when I win the lottery". Pshhh.

Local Farmers Market

I love, love, love some farmers markets!! During one of Vic's meetings he found out that our area (Chamblee) will be hosting their own farmers market. Local farmers will be bringing their fruits and veggies to sell. I am very excited about this because in my home state of Bama, you see farmers out everywhere selling produce. I don't see it very often in our area. Now Vic and I only have to drive a mile down the road. Check out the website.

Our hero- Capt. Kyle Comfort

Our friend Capt. Kyle Comfort was killed by an IED in Afghanistan. Thus far, this event has brought the community closer together. People are bonding and showing their respects to a brave man who lost his life fighting to protect the rest of us. I found this photograph on his wife's fb page and thought it perfectly depicted the sentiment of the people that knew him.

My friend Kristi turned me on to a blog called The Pioneer Woman. She is very talented and has many skills. You can learn about photography, cooking, and her family(including her cowboy). No that is not a sexual reference, I am pretty sure that he is a cowboy. City girl turned country, while I am exactly the reverse.

Domestic Diva

Since I lost my job, I had to learn to fill my time with "other" things. So I have inadvertently taken on the role of a house "woman" or domestic diva. I have been cooking, cleaning, and babysitting the daughter (dog). I have even stooped as low as to become an addict of Desperate Housewives. The show is beyond ridiculous and the first time I watched it I was appalled. Then, like most shows, you find there is a message. If I ignore (and fast forward) through the Drama, I can usually find the message. To tell you the truth, the messages are not too far from reality. Bree Van de Kamp has to be my favorite. She seems very traditional and always well put together, but she has a dark side. She can shoot a gun, that's all the info I need.

Mom's meatloaf

This is the best. If you like sweet and sour you will love this Simple Meatloaf Recipe. It is one of the best. And not much prep time. This is not your ordinary meatloaf. The flavor is outstanding. The one person in our family that doesn’t like Meatloaf changed his mind after I made this recipe. Serve with Mashed Potatoes and Enjoy!
Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs ground beef (ground shoulder roast is good)
1 slice bread (broken or chopped finely)
1 egg

1 small onion , finely chopped

1 teaspoon table salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

4 tablespoons ketchup

1/2 cup whole milk

Sauce

4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

4 tablespoons dark brown sugar, packed firm (to taste)

1/2 cup ketchup

I participated in my first 5K today. I never wanted to be involved, and now that I have, I may become an addict. It is so nice to exercise and enjoy that day with a big group of folks. It is also for a great cause. More marathons to come!

Green with Envy

Anyone with a modicum of talent can turn me into a green eyed monster. I am always scrolling through page after page of crawftgawker and I am always impressed by all of the talented people out there in the world. I am always inspired by others creations, unfortunately I don't think I have a crafty bone in my body. Such a drag. I am so glad that my friends make up for what I lack.

All this talk about immigration..

..is making me hungry and reminds me that Cinco de Mayo is very close. I know that we Americans use it as an excuse to eat good food and drink tequila, but I am still looking forward to it.
